Mission and Vision

Each year, LMSA Midwest seeks to support the education of highly driven student members who display a passion for the mission of LMSA National. We are proud to offer several scholarships awards this year, including:

Eligibility

In order to be eligible to receive an LMSA Midwest Scholarship, you must
 
  • Be a dues-paying member of The LMSA National

 

  • Be attending a school located in the Midwest region including (Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin)

OR

  • Be in a gap year with primary residence within one of above mentioned states.

Medical Student Scholarship

Mission

This scholarship recognizes medical students who are strong advocates for Latinx/Hispanic concerns within their school & local community. We hope to encourage & embolden our LMSA medical students to continue being fierce advocates & champions for the Latinx/Hispanic population.

Award and Eligibility Details

We will be awarding three $500 scholarships to three medical students who live by the LMSA mission & show commitment to advancing the health of Latinx/Hispanic communities. Applicants must be a medical student who is enrolled in a MD, DO, or dual degree program in the Midwest region. Applicants on a leave of absence are eligible to apply, but their home institution (where they will graduate from) must be in the Midwest region.

Pre-Medical Scholarship

Mission

LMSA Midwest is looking to recognize motivated individuals who are passionate about issues affecting Latinx/Hispanic communities and wish to address these changes by becoming physician leaders of tomorrow.

Award and Eligibility Details

We will be awarding three $500 scholarships to three pre-medical students who live by the mission of LMSA and show commitment to advancing the health of Latinx/Hispanic communities. Applicants must either be pursuing a 2- or 4-year degree at a university, community college or equivalent, or have graduated from a university. Applicants must also currently reside in the Midwest region. 

Dreamer Scholarship

Mission

We are proud to offer this scholarship with the goal of supporting students who are immigrants and are dedicated to making a positive impact on their local Latinx/Hispanic communities. We aim to support these individuals, as they face unique challenges in a variety of ways, especially with higher education.

Award and Eligibility Details

We will be awarding one $500 scholarship to an individual who aligns with the mission of our organization and demonstrates a strong commitment to improving the well-being of Latinx/Hispanic communities. We welcome applications from undocumented students, DACA recipients, international students, and individuals in similar immigration situations who aspire to pursue a career in the medical field. Applicants can be pre-med students pursuing degrees at a university, community college or equivalent, graduates of a university, or medical students enrolled in an MD, DO, or dual degree program in the Midwest region. Additionally, individuals on a leave of absence are eligible to apply.

Our aim is to create an inclusive and equitable opportunity for all Latinx/Hispanic students who share our mission, regardless of their immigration status, and we encourage all eligible individuals to apply.

Medical Student Parent Scholarship

Mission

This scholarship was founded to help address the additional financial obstacles that medical student parents face as they simultaneously navigate their medical training and raise a family.

Award and Eligibility Details

We will be awarding one $500 scholarship to a medical student parent who embodies the LMSA mission and has demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing the health of Latinx/Hispanic communities. Applicants must be a medical student parent who is enrolled in a MD, DO, or dual degree program in the Midwest region. Applicants on a leave of absence are eligible to apply.
